Trevy McDonald joined the School of Journalism and Mass Communication faculty in 2010. Her teaching interests include diversity and media, electronic communication and media and society. Her research interests include: media socialization, media uses and effects, audience studies and race and gender. She is the owner of Reyomi Global Media Group, an independent book publishing and consulting company based in Durham, N.C.

McDonald is the co-editor of two scholarly anthologies: Nature of a Sistuh: Black Women’s Lived Experiences in Contemporary Culture and Building Diverse Communities: Applications of Communication Research. She is also the author of the novel Time Will Tell and has contributed to numerous anthologies and publications including: Black Women in the Field: Experiences Understanding Ourselves and Others through Qualitative Research, Black Voices Quarterly and Black Issues Book Review.

McDonald taught communication courses at North Carolina State University, North Carolina Central University and Spertus College prior to coming to the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. She was recently elected to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Alumni Association Board of Directors where she received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2008.
