Ryan Tuck is the director of product and audience development at EdNC. He has been working at news media companies for about 15 years in various capacities and consults with media companies, nonprofits, startups, foundations and others on revenue and audience growth, product development, user experience and digital strategy. Recently, he helped to coach the first Facebook accelerator program in Canada, working with a dozen publishers on their audience development strategies.

He previously worked with McClatchy's 30 U.S. newsrooms as a product manager for news strategy. Before that, he was a news director at Bloomberg's legal news-centric affiliate, overseeing a network of reporters and editors in producing several publications around the globe. He also led user experience research at The New York Times, where he helped launch the company's first-ever reader loyalty research community.

He has been a community editor and audience manager at The Star-News in Wilmington, North Carolina, and at The Pilot in Southern Pines, North Carolina, where he won a state press association award for his work in redesigning the website and launching the company's first-ever network of podcasts in 2006.

He has a bachelor's degree in journalism and political science (and Spanish) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a master's certificate in technology and communication also from UNC, and a law degree from the University of Georgia.
